My Business Investment Journey and Experience

I want to start this blog post on a slightly different note than you may be expecting. No matter what industry you are in or stage of business you are at, if you are feeling fearful of investing in yourself and your business then this is totally normal!

I'm not going to sit here and write this blog post to tell you that investing in my business was an easy choice for me to make because it wasn't! It was a super scary experience that was very much out of my comfort zone but this was the EXACT reason I knew I was making the right decision for my business.

If I wanted to SEE a change, I had to MAKE a change! 

And here is how I did it...

January 2021 - Invested in a Business Coach

During my first year of my business in 2020 I found myself "plodding along" taking each day as it came. I spent a lot of my time trying to navigate the online space, understand the world of business and this resulted in clients, that I had secured, leading how my business was ran.

Yes, clients are the heart of my business as a Virtual Assistant but unknowingly to them I was placing ALL of my focus into their business and tasks which resulted in me putting my own projects, strategies, goals and visions on a backburner.

As I approached the beginning of December 2020, I knew there was NO WAY I could let my business continue to run this way as it wouldn't allow me to achieve the success I had envisioned for my business in 2021.

That's when I started to do my research in finding the right coach & programme for me before making my first big investment to work with Alex McCarthy Coaching in her Online Success Accelerator programme! 

Kickstarting the New Year working with Alex was amazing. I immediately started seeing results in myself, feeling more confident and aligned with where I wanted to take my business and this feeling only developed across the 6 months of working with her. 

By the end of the programme I had streamlined my current business model to form attractive packages that suited both me & my clients and even developed a clear strategy with actionable steps for the future of my business too.

How to attract and secure clients online

July 2021 - Invested in a Brand Designer


Once I came to the end of my investment with Alex, I was left feeling totally inspired & motivated to continue with the growth and development of my business. 

After all the changes and up-levelling that I had gone through on a personal note over the last 6 months, I knew it was time to give my brand style the same transformation I too had experienced. I wanted to showcase to my audience the growth I had gone through as a business owner as well as updating my brand identity to reflect my improved business model to start attracting more of my dream clients.

Even though I work on a lot of design projects, I decided to outsource my own rebrand project to an incredible Brand & Graphic Designer Sian from
Spryce Designs.


There are many reasons as to why I decided to invest in a designer, one of the biggest being that outsourcing this task would allow me to show up within other areas of my business that needed me more. This included; serving my current clients, marketing my services online, developing relations with potential clients and also crafting my Virtual Assistant coaching hub 'The VA Society'.


To begin with it felt so strange handing over a project I knew I could complete myself but once the rebrand was finalised, I took a moment to reflect on all that I had worked on during the design process to realised that my business was further ahead than it would have been if I was to complete everything alone.

I want to reassure you, from my experience, that despite the fears and set backs you may face around investing, there will come a time when you know it's the right step, programme & service for you to take to grow and develop within your business.
